From Humble Beginnings
To a world of endless possibility
I began my career in a small furniture store in a one stoplight town. Where there is more churches than bars and more farms than factories. While I was in high-school my father had opened the business with a friend. By the time I dropped out of college, his friends wife was ill and needed full time care.
I came in in his place. I have epilepsy and the doctors near me couldn’t figure out how to treat it. It didn’t matter anyway, I didn’t have insurance.
I became the manager of the business. I managed the books, the cleaning and the people. I started asking questions about how we were advertising. Dad said, “Oh, the Newspaper!” Well even in 2005 that answer wouldn’t do. I started messing around with Craigslist and Facebook. I designed new business cards in Microsoft Word.
Eventually, I moved on from the business of furniture. I went back to college expanded my knowledge of marketing, advertising, and branding. And now I want to pay it forward. People helped me through the years, and I want to be the one with the experience and knowledge who can help other businesses.
